BABY MAMA ***Sunday July 27,2008 Henry FitzherbertBABY Mama is an amusing and likeable vehicle for two of America’s brightest comediennes, Tina Fey (TV’s 30 Rock) and Amy Poehler (Blades Of Glory). Fey plays fastidious 37-year-old career woman Kate who, desperate to have a baby, turns to a surrogate, the trailer trashy Angie (Poehler), who moves into her apartment.
The plot is really just an excuse for some sketch-show-like skits but there is enough humour and heart to carry you through to the end. It’s also good to see Steve Martin – as Kate’s eco-poseur boss – being funny again. (12A, 98 mins) |
