Actress Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle in Emmerdale, has taken to Twitter to reveal a massive new tattoo on her back.

The black and white image features the 46-year-old star with her back to the camera with a white sheet draped across her shoulders leaving her back exposed.

Tagging the artist who created the work, Lucy simply captioned the post with six love hearts indicating her delight with the piece.

The intricate fine lined design features flowers connected by a chandelier-style design spanning the back of her ribs.

Olivia Fayne - the Leeds-based tattoo artist who designed the inking - also posted images of the work to her Instagram.

Alongside three pictures of Lucy displaying the huge artwork, she wrote: "Fresh and healed on the lovely Lucy, what a laugh we’ve had."

Lucy posted a gushing response to the post commenting: "You are the most incredible human, artist and kindred spirit I am honoured to have been blessed to meet."

Fans were also quick to chime in on Twitter citing their approval for the inking.

Meanwhile a user with the handle @Magenta81071511 was coveting the design simply writing: “Want,” followed by a heart emoji.

It is unlikely that Lucy will be showing off the design on-screen any time soon as the weather in Leeds, where Emmerdale is filmed, usually dictates that the cast have to cover up.

Chas has been at the centre of some hard-hitting storylines recently including the death of her mother Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) by suicide as she was losing her battle with cancer.

She has also seen her marriage to Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) break down following her affair with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).

The fallout saw Paddy struggle with his mental health and even harbour suicidal thoughts, leading fans to pile on their hatred for her actions – something Lucy seemed to enjoy.

She took to Twitter to respond to their criticism of her on-screen alter ego.

"Just a little thank you from me and my Emmerdale family", she wrote.

"Thank you for watching, enjoying and being so involved and invested in the stories we tell."

"And judging from many of your comments about Chas at the moment, I’d say it’s done what we strive to do, get you talking."
