The has confirmed will be returning to the small screen more than a year after his terrifying crash whilst filming for .

The 46-year-old was apparently "lucky to be alive" following the horror accident, which occurred back in December 2022.

Freddie had to be airlifted to hospital after the incident left the pro cricketer with severe facial injuries and broken ribs.

Following the disaster, which saw Freddie drive an open-topped car going at 130mph before it flipped and slid along the track, meant that Top Gear was subsequently "put to rest" by the BBC.

However, that doesn't mean that Freddie won't be popping up on our screens some time soon.

Freddie will also be returning for a second season of Field of Dreams, with an air date yet to be released.

The cricket documentary will see the star take a young sports team from his home city of Preston on tour.

The new scenes Freddie has been spotted filming will follow season one of the show, which aired back in July 2022.

A source recently told the Sun that Freddie is on the mend and taking his "nervous first steps" towards a TV comeback.

They claimed: "This will be a huge comfort to his fans because it shows he’s healing well and returning to two of his greatest passions — sport and television.

"It’s obvious that there is some scarring, which everyone expected, but Freddie looks to have made huge progress since he was last seen in public playing cricket."

The source added: "He’s clearly comfortable enough to get in front of a camera again — something which was not the case this time last year.

"They’re nervous first steps, as he’s recovering both mentally and physically, but the TV show he’s making is a real passion project for him."
