Coronation Street body found in Lauren Bolton search as character makes confession

There could be trouble ahead for one Coronation Street resident as the police may have found a body while looking for missing teen Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton). However, they may not find who they’re expecting as Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) makes a shocking confession.

Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal that Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) accidentally loses Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) dog Freddie while on a walk. As Toyah heads off to the park to try and find the pooch, she makes a harrowing discovery.

Spotting three sleuths digging up a rose bed in the park, they explain they saw Freddie digging in the same place and believe Roy has buried Lauren’s body there.

Suddenly Toyah sees red and goes into a fit of rage. Picking up a shovel she smashes their car window while one of them records her on their phone. Back home, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) tries to keep the peace between Toyah and her sister Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).

When the police turn up to quiz her about the incident in the park, Toyah remains adamant she is right to defend Roy’s reputation. Defending her actions, she believes she was right to stop the sleuths from desecrating such a special place.

Although Nick is puzzled by Toyah’s unusual choice of words. Later on, he returns home and finds a distraught Toyah in floods of tears as she makes a tragic confession.

She explains to Nick that when she was 19 years old, she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. Not telling a single person, Toyah buried her daughter in the exact same spot where the sleuths were digging up.

Sharing more about the tragic time in her life, Toyah confesses the baby’s father was Phil Simmonds (Jack Deam), the person who raped her.

Interrupting the tense revelation, Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) returns home and explains the police are digging up North Cross Park.

Bobby Crawford (Jack Caroll) thinks the authorities have found a body, believing it may be Lauren.

However, with Toyah’s secret now revealed, will she find herself in even more trouble?

Toyah’s dark storyline has been teased for the past few weeks before being confirmed by ITV spoilers.

Although the plot has been heavily criticised by fans of the show, including former cast member Vicky Entwistle, who played Toyah’s mum Janice Battersby in the soap.

Taking to Twitter, she tagged her former on-screen husband Burce Jones and wrote: "Well we tried to make our moments as real as they could possibly be, didn't we?! [Bruce] I guess we failed. Who knew digging up dead babies would become the highlight of ITV’s tea time slot!!!"
