Home & Away star Orpheus Pledger arrested after three-day manhunt for brutal assault

Home & Away star Orpheus Pledger has been arrested by Australian police following an alleged assault.

The soap actor allegedly stomped on a woman’s head in a vicious assault and was detained earlier this week.

However, he managed to evade the police and was on the run for three days before being arrested again.

He was detained late on Thursday evening, local time, according to Victoria police.

CCTV footage of the alleged incident was released on Tuesday and details a disturbing assault.

A woman is seen being grabbed by the hair from behind by a figure claimed to be Orpheus.

She’s pulled to the ground before a shadow appears to stomp on the victim’s head.

A report by The Sun says the woman called the police to say “he’s coming” before the line was disconnected.

The victim reportedly suffered serious injuries, including a haematoma on her head, cuts to her cheek and bruises.

She told the court she believed Orpheus would "eventually kill her", and has been supporting the police while they investigate the alleged attack.

The Home & Away star was initially arrested in March 25 and put into pre-trial detention.

His lawyer, Matthew MacCuspie, has claimed the actor’s mental health would be at risk if he was detained in prison, so he was sent to hospital.

After Orpheus’ escape, however, Magistrate Justin Foster said he would not grant the same order after he "bent over backwards to try and offer someone mental health treatment as they require".

Express.co.uk has approached Orpheus Pledger’s representatives for comment.

The actor was best known for portraying Mason Morgan on the Aussie soap Home & Away for 339 episodes between 2016 and 2019.
