GMB: Kate interrupts Richard as he breaks Britney Spears news

Kate Garraway was forced to apologise after her co-star shared some breaking news. The presenter fronted Thursday's instalment (May 2) of Good Morning Britain alongside Richard Madeley.

Sharing the latest celebrity updates was showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold. The 54-year-old announced "breaking news" regarding Britney Spears.

He said: "Breaking Britney news from the gurus at TMZ. They are reporting in the last few hours that Britney has settled her divorce with ex Sam Asghari, almost a year after he pulled the plug on their marriage by filing for divorce."

Richard added: "The pair are said to have filed a stipulated judgement," before he was cut-off by Kate. Keen to know more about the term, she interjected: "What’s that mean?"

Shutting her down, Richard hit back: "I’m about to explain." The broadcaster was forced to apologise as she responded: "Ok I’ll shut up, sorry."

The entertainment editor replied: "Yes, thank you Kate," before explaining: "It’s an agreement to settle the case. Now a judge will sign off soon and when that happens, the marriage will be history."

It comes after Kate took to Instagram  since Derek Draper's death.

Derek sadly died in January aged 56 following years of serious health complications caused by Coronavirus.

On Sunday (April 28), Kate headed to the The Variety Club Showbusiness Awards where she was presented with an award for her Outstanding Contribution to TV and Radio.

"I’ve been aware of the incredible work @variety does over its 75 years to help disabled & disadvantaged children & heard that it’s awards do’s are always the glitziest."

She added: "I was so pleased to have an invite to attend but then to actually WIN an award was an incredible honour - a silver heart for Outstanding Contribution to TV & Radio - I guess if you cling on long enough you eventually make a contribution!!!!!!
