He gave Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane the freedom to cheat a bit and stay up the pitch
Danny Murphy on Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Murphy has been critical of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, claiming the Argentine’s tactics were to blame for his team’s defeat.
But he has also praised Klopp for giving two of his attackers, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, plenty of freedom to trouble the opposition.
Murphy says Mane and Salah were allowed to “cheat” by not having to track back too often.
“They were playing against a Liverpool side with a lot of confidence, but Klopp gave his players the freedom to play,” Murphy told talkSPORT.

“He gave Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane the freedom to cheat a bit and stay up the pitch – that’s tactical and Klopp deserves credit for that.
“I think too many people dismiss tactics generally, but that was the most clear-cut game I’ve seen in a long time where tactics made the difference.”
Victory over Tottenham means Liverpool sit below Chelsea at the top of the table on goal difference.
