Man Utd and Liverpool transfer revelation made by Gary Neville (Image: Getty)
That's according to Gary Neville, who believes he spotted a sign that Sir Alex Ferguson once wanted him.
In the absence of Premier League football, Sky Sports have been broadcasting shows where Neville looks back at his playing days alongside other greats.
One episode was shot with Jamie Carragher with the pair sitting down to watch Manchester United's 2-1 win over Liverpool in January 2010.
Torres opened the scoring in that one before goals from Wayne Rooney and Ji Sung Park sealed a turnaround.

"I had a couple of experiences against Torres, once playing against Spain in the Bernabeu where I thought 'wow, what a player'," Neville said when watching Torres in action.
"He obviously was and is an incredible player but we always felt there was something missing, something that was not quite right.
"He had that unbelievable partnership with Steven Gerrard and Alonso passing balls through to him but I felt that at this point he might have been going over the top a little bit and people may have worked him out."
Carragher then interjected and explained: "He picked up an injury the season before and he was devastated.

“I don't think his head was right as soon as Xabi Alonso left, we weren't having such a great season.
"He was seen as possibly the best striker in the world at that time, he scored the winning goal at the Euros in 2008."
And it was then where Neville revealed why he felt Torres may have been wanted at Old Trafford.
