Man Utd news: Mauricio Pochettino would demand THIS to replace Jose Mourinho - claim
MANCHESTER UNITED would only be able to appoint Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as Jose Mourinho’s successor should they grant him signings, according to Roy Keane.
Tottenham: Pochettino says he'll have to 'choose' club to manage
Manchester United have been tipped to replace Mourinho with Pochettino amid the club’s nightmare Premier League campaign so far.
The Red Devils saw themselves fall a huge 19 points behind Liverpool at the top of the table on Sunday as their Merseyside giants battered them 3-1 on a difficult night at Anfield.
As a result, speculation over Jose Mourinho’s future is again rife. The 55-year-old looks a man out of both ideas and time.
And former United captain Keane believes Pochettino will only replace Mourinho if he is given plenty of money to spend.
“I honestly think if Pochettino went in to Man United next summer, he would say we need some players to get Man United back to competing at the top level,” Keane told Sky Sports.
“I think he’d try and get some players more back on side, like Pogba – although I go back to it, he’s got to sort himself out.”
Pochettino, meanwhile, recently hinted he could leave Tottenham for one of Europe’s big guns.
"For me it is about my possibility to work and provide the club what they expect from you,” he said when asked about his Spurs legacy.

“I have a clear idea of what the club expects from us and I try to do my job in the best condition.
"I am not a person who thinks I want to be here 10 years to build something.
“I know very well in football you need to take a decision, the best decision for the club, you need to work with the club and the club expects from you that you deliver some work and at the end I know very well that every game is a test for me.
"If you don’t win you will suffer.
