The Northern Irishman’s decision has faced major scrutiny particularly among Celtic supporters since his departure.
Leicester announced before Tuesday’s win over Brighton that they had appointed Rodgers following the sacking of Claude Puel.
With Celtic on course for another treble, many have questioned why Rodgers was not prepared to see out the remainder of the season before leaving the club.
Pundit Paul Ince has since claimed that he can understand why the former Liverpool boss took the job at the King Power Stadium.
“It was a shock, but I can understand,” he said on BBC Sport.
“Celtic fans won’t like me saying this but I can understand why he left.
“I think he’s achieved so much in such a short space of time and I don’t think Leicester were prepared to wait.
“Brendan thought ‘listen, I need to take this opportunity.’”
Given the success Rodgers has had at Celtic Park, he’d probably earned a shot at managing one of the Premier League’s top six again.

But there was no guarantee that opportunity would ever come and the chance to take over at Leicester was an offer he couldn’t refuse.
“He had a great CV at Liverpool and nearly won the title there,” Ince added.
“He’s going to go and I think he’ll do well.
“But I can understand how Celtic fans feel, trying to create that history of treble, treble, treble but maybe Neil Lennon can do that instead.”
Rodgers said during his first Leicester press conference that he would never rule out managing Celtic again in the future.
