Wilfried Zaha has to leave Crystal Palace says pundit
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood thinks Jose Mourinho has changed chairman Daniel Levy’s transfer stance. The north London side were always very astute in negotiations while their stunning new stadium was being built.
But Sherwood reckons the appointment of Mourinho, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino two months ago, could change the way the club goes about its business.
Spurs have been linked with Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha this month but the south Londoners have slapped a £80million price tag on the ex-Manchester United winger.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested in the 27-year-old now their transfer ban has been lifted.
However, Sherwood thinks Spurs could be in a strong financial position to shell out a club reckon fee.
“It all depends what the philosophy is at the club now, whether they’re looking to bring their young players through or whether they’re looking to spend to win,” Sherwood told talkSPORT.

“It all depends on how they’ve shifted. I know how the club was when I was there and when [Mauricio] Pochettino was there, and I think in bringing Jose in there has been a shift there.
“We’ll perhaps see that now in the transfer market.”
However Sherwood knows how Levy works and is unsure if he would break the bank for the Palace star.
“Everyone would want Zaha… but for £80million I’m not sure everyone would want Zaha,” he added.

“Certainly Daniel Levy wouldn’t at that price and at that age. He’s a good player, we all know that.”
Mourinho has yet to make his first move in the January transfer window and he remained coy when asked of his plans earlier this week.
“We have lots of fixtures,” he said.
“I thought we were going to have one good week to work, which we don’t, because we have to play the replay against Middlesbrough, but that’s the way it is.
