Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has apologised to Crystal Palace for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s horror tackle on Max Meyer, which saw the Gabon international sent off after a VAR review.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admitted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s tackle on Crystal Palace midfielder Max Meyer looked “nasty”. He apologised on behalf of the club after the 1-1 draw, and said that he hoped Meyer wasn’t injured as a result of the challenge.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson was not happy after the match, but said that he’s sure Aubameyang didn’t purposely mean to harm Meyer.
He also claimed that there may be some ligament damage to Meyer’s ankle after the incident.
Hodgson said: “Max is not happy. I knew at the time it was a bad challenge.
“The position of his ankle is not a pleasant thing to see.
