Man Utd: Ighalo ‘grateful’ as he arrives at Manchester Airport
Manchester United transfer target James Maddison is close to agreeing a new contract at Leicester City, in a major blow to United's hopes of securing a summer move. The Foxes midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
United suffered a series of blows during the January window.
First, they missed out on Erling Braut Haaland, with the 19-year-old striker opting to sign for Borussia Dortmund.
And after they turned their attentions towards Juventus' Mario Mandzukic, but the Croatian decided to head to the Qatari league.
They endured a lengthy transfer saga before securing a move for Sporting Lisbon's Bruno Fernandes, eventually signing the playmaker just days before the window closed.

Now, they could be set to face another setback, with Maddison close to a new deal at the King Power Stadium, according to The Telegraph.
Maddison has been on United's radar for some time, with the Red Devils expecting to lose Paul Pogba during the summer.
But now, the 23-year-old will apparently sign a long-term deal to keep him at Leicester.
Brendan Rodgers' side are flying this season, with Maddison playing a key role.

The attacking midfielder has provided three assists and scored six goals in the Premier League this season, though that doesn't tell the whole story.
Maddison has predominantly played in the middle of the park, and is known for turning defence into attack and playing balls out wide for Leicester's pacy wingers.
He seemed like the ideal player for United's team, with the Red Devils crying out for some creativity.
But reports suggest he could sign a new deal during the Premier League's winter break.
