Liverpool were adamant that they wouldn’t let him leave on loan, and would only consider a loan exit for the attacker.
They turned down loan bids back in January from Sevilla and Roma, with Klopp eager to keep him around as cover for their front three.
Going into the summer window, they decided Shaqiri would be one of the players they would listen to offers for, along with Rhian Brewster – who signed for Sheffield United.
However, they were unable to find any suitors, with Goal reporting the club didn’t receive any offers for the 28-year-old.

Meanwhile, reports emerged on deadline day suggesting Liverpool chiefs were exploring the possibility of making a move for Jadon Sancho next summer.
The Borussia Dortmund winger was Manchester United’s top target this summer, but they failed to meet his £108m asking price.
Liverpool would have apparently made a move for Sancho this summer if they weren’t financially restricted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Klopp is said to be a big fan of the English wonderkid, and could move for him next summer, according to the Independent.
