Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has shown faith in Harvey Elliott at a young age just like he did with Trent Alexander-Arnold, says former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy. Elliott made his European debut for Liverpool on Wednesday in their 2-0 Champions League last-16 first leg win at Inter Milan. The teenager has only just returned from the broken ankle he suffered against Leeds last September.
Elliott, 18, joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2019.
After spending last season on loan at Championship side Blackburn, he immediately became a part of Klopp's first-team squad at Anfield upon his return.
Murphy is a big fan of Elliott and has likened his emergence to that of Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold's breakthrough campaign came in the 2017/18 season when he was just 19.

“I enjoy watching him play, he’s a creative footballer who's got great technical ability,” Murphy said of Elliott on talkSPORT.
“Klopp’s got a habit [of this], he put Trent Arnold] in really early and left him in, Trent’s played like he’s been there for years and he’s still only 23.
“He threw Trent in young, he’s put Curtis Jones in young, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough with Jurgen, there’s no problem with that.
“I think Harvey Elliott has got that maturity about his game which you have to have to be put in the team.

“I’m really excited to see his development because I think he’s one of those players that gets fans on the edge of their seat because he’s got that silkiness, he can manipulate the ball, he can go past someone, and he’s going to score goals."
Klopp trialled Elliott in a midfield role in pre-season and has used him there for the majority of his appearances this term.
Murphy disagrees with former team-mate Jamie Carragher that Elliott could eventually replace Mohamed Salah in Liverpool's attack.
He added: “I think it was Jamie Carragher who was talking about playing him in a similar role to Salah, I’m not sure about that because I think with has ability on the ball, keeping him more central is probably the way to go, which is why I think Jurgen’s playing him in a midfield three.
