Tottenham players weren't holding anything back in a competitive rondo session in Tuesday's training session and Matt Doherty appeared annoyed at a risky challenge from Cristian Romero at one point. Tottenham returned to winning ways at the weekend as Harry Kane's goal against Brighton was enough to pick up all three points.

It helped Tottenham keep pace with the early-season leaders Arsenal and Manchester City and gave Antonio Conte's side some confidence heading into a big Champions League tie against Eintracht Frankfurt. Tottenham's group is finely poised with Conte's side level with Frankfurt on four points while Sporting Lisbon sit top on six and Marseille are close at the bottom on three.

Any slip up for Tottenham in their final three group games could prove costly and there will be some added pressure on Conte's side to deliver. The Spurs boss appeared to have a full Tottenham squad training on Tuesday in a huge boost for his hopes heading into the Frankfurt match.

Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Japhet Tanganga were all spotted on the training pitch while Harry Kane put any fitness fears behind him by taking part in the full session. The last thing Conte needs now with games coming thick and fast is an injury crisis, and worst yet would be any knocks being picked up in training.

Players still didn't hold much back in a competitive rondo session though and Romero nearly went over the top with a challenge on Doherty. The Argentina international was teamed up with Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies as the trio tried to win the ball back from the rest of the squad inside a circle.

And Romero tried to bounce on a loose pass to Doherty, jumping in with both feet off the ground. Romero appeared confident that he wasn't going to hurt Doherty, stamping his feet down in front of the ball.

But the full-back looked frustrated as he lifted his right leg out the way before turning away from his team-mate. Football London noted that Doherty 'did not look too impressed' while Romero was still smiling after the challenge.

DON'T MISS

Romero wasn't the only one flying in throughout the session with Eric Dier flying in with a sliding tackle on Bryan Gil. The 21-year-old initially limped on one leg after the challenge before taking his position in the middle of the rondo.

Both Doherty and Gil will be hoping to impress Conte in the coming weeks to find more minutes. The 30-year-old started his first game of the season at the weekend with Emerson Royal suspended after he was sent off against Arsenal.

Gil is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season, but he did make his first cameo of the campaign in last week's 0-0 draw with Frankfurt.
