Barcelona women's 64-game unbeaten run in the league came to an end on Sunday, dating all the way back to 2021. The women's side have been going through an era of dominance for a few years now and that all culminated with a domestic treble last season.
The quadruple was denied as they lost to Lyon in the Women's Champions League final. They dwarfed Arsenal's Invicibles season in the league though, racking up 99 points out of a possible 102.
That dominance carried over into this campaign with Barcelona romping to their fourth successive league title. And it looked set to be another full league campaign without a single defeat - until the last game of the season.
Up against Madrid CFF in the capital, Barcelona were the strong favourites to seal victory. Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas was back on the scoresheet for the first time in a year due to injury problems.

But her goal wasn't enough to keep Barcelona's unbeaten streak going as Madrid CFF recorded a shock 2-1 victory. Racahel Kundananji scored twice in the first half with Barcelona ultimately unable to pull it back.
It's Barcelona first's league defeat since losing 4-3 to Atletico Madrid back in June 2021. While losing the unbeaten record may hurt, Barcelona's main focus now will be on the Women's Champions League final against Wolfsburg.

Barcelona came through a tough semi-final against Emma Hayes' Chelsea side, winning 2-1 on aggregate. More than 72,000 fans packed out the Nou Camp for the second leg with Chelsea as the English side did everything to end Barcelona's impressive European run.
But it was Barcelona who came out on top to reach their fourth Champions League final in five years. They will take on a Wolfsburg side, who had dominated women's European football between 2012 and 2014.
This is the first Champions League final Wolfsburg have reached since 2020 and they'll be looking to enact revenge on Barcelona from last year. The Spanish side thrashed Wolfsburg 5-3 on aggregate in last season's semi-final.
