Lionel Messi scored once again this past weekend to give Inter Miami another commanding win as they advanced to the semi-final of the Leagues Cup. Messi scored his eighth goal of the competition to become it's all-time leading scorer - despite playing in just five games since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain. And a recent video has shown just how easy Messi is making it look.

A video shared on Twitter shows Messi's close-control before moving the ball up the field after beating his man with ease. He then casually saunters up the field to find space and runs straight into the box - where he the ball is crossed into him unmarked in the box to score the fourth goal of the game.

More glaringly, Messi doesn't appear to come anywhere near any opposition defender throughout the video, and seems to wait in the box by himself for the ball to be squared to him.

That was the last goal of the game as Messi looked to be playing in a slightly deeper role throughout the game, playmaking for his Inter Miami teammates who lead comfortably throughout the game with Charlotte FC, finishing 4-0. Star striker Josef Martinez opened the scoring from the penalty spot, with Robert Taylor doubling the lead before an Adilson Malanda own goal almost sealed the win.

Messi will now face one of Miami's rival teams, in the Philadelphia Union in the semi-final on Tuesday night - with the winner set to face Monterray SC or Nashville SC.

Messi is yet to make a league appearance yet, joining the team in the mid-season break with the Leagues Cup being played with teams from Mexico's top league.

He will be expected to make his MLS debut later this month, but which game that will be will depend on the club’s progress in the current competition.

In the league, Miami find themselves in a precarious position as they sit bottom of the Eastern Conference - with a tough road ahead of them to make the playoffs.

But after the signigns of Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba along with new manager Gerardo Martino, Miami remains unbeaten and will look to go on a winning streak.

Messi signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the club and has already purchased two homes in the city.
