Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo as a potential target for the summer transfer window. Joel Matip is set to leave the Reds at the end of the season when his contract expires, which will leave the club short of defensive depth if reinforcements aren’t signed.
Jurgen Klopp orchestrated a major rebuild of his midfield ranks over the summer in the hope of bringing down the average age of the department with top-quality players. Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch joined the club and replaced stalwarts like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Liverpool now have a midfield that will make an impact in both the short and long-term, and attention at Anfield has turned to other areas of the squad. Strengthening the backline was considered over the summer, though those plans appear to have been put on pause until the end of this season.
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is among those admired by Liverpool, though he isn’t the only Premier League star to have caught the eye of the Merseyside outfit.

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds were ‘impressed’ by Adarabioyo during his two performances against them during the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Liverpool ultimately won 3-2 across the two legs against Fulham, but they felt that the 26-year-old emerged with credit.
Liverpool have monitored Adarabioyo’s progress closely ‘for a while’, and they could step up their pursuit of the Manchester City academy graduate over the coming months.

The Fulham defender is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and there has been no indication that he is willing to put pen to paper on a contract extension at Craven Cottage, despite their efforts. Tottenham and AC Milan have been alerted to his situation as a result, though Liverpool will hope that they can provide Adarabioyo with the assurances to lure him to Merseyside.
With Matip ruled out for the remainder of the season after rupturing his ACL, there is a growing feeling that the 32-year-old will leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent. The Cameroon international has made just 23 Premier League appearances for the club over the past two seasons, with Klopp favouring the defensive partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate. Matip’s departure will force Liverpool into the market for another centre-back, and the opportunity to sign Adarabioyo without forking out a significant fee could prove to be an astute piece of business.
