Man Utd team news: Predicted XI vs Liverpool in FA Cup as Erik ten Hag snubs key return

Erik ten Hag should make changes when Man Utd host Liverpool in the FA Cup today.

Ten Hag previews Man Utd's FA Cup clash with Liverpool

will welcome back four huge returnees in this afternoon's quarter-final clash against at Old Trafford. Express Sport runs through likely starting lineup in arguably the most important match of his reign, with one of the quartet missing out.

Goalkeeper - Onana

Andre Onana has been one of United's best players since the turn of the year and will play a crucial role if the hosts are to win today.

One of his clean sheets in his maiden season in English football came in the 0-0 Premier League draw at Anfield.

Defence - Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Dalot

Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain unavailable, but Ten Hag has two key defenders back at his disposal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's return will allow Diogo Dalot to cover at left-back rather than Victor Lindelof.

Harry Maguire is also back in contention and, ahead of Lindelof in the centre-back pecking order, should reclaim his place at the heart of Ten Hag's defence.

Raphael Varane will keep his place and will have to be at the top of his game again alongside the England international. Jonny Evans has a knock and likely won't be risked.

Midfield - Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes

The only unchanged area of Ten Hag's side should be his midfield, despite Mason Mount's expected return to the matchday squad.

United's £60million man has been unavailable with a calf problem since November and has played just 12 times since joining from Chelsea last summer.

He won't be rushed back, though, and adds quality to the bench. Kobbie Mainoo has shone in his absence, establishing himself as a regular starter at the age of 18.

Mainoo will play alongside Casemiro, with captain Bruno Fernandes ahead of them after returning to the scoresheet in last weekend's 2-0 win against Everton. The Portuguese maestro must keep his emotions in check.

Attack - Garnacho, Rashford, Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund's remain to the frame is the most exciting of the lot. The 21-year-old Dane's incredible run of goalscoring form - netting eight goals in his last eight games - was cruelly halted by injury last month.

He's back to fitness now, though, after being named the Premier League Player of the Month for February.

Hojlund will lead the line, with Alejandro Garnacho starting for a 25th consecutive game ahead of Antony and Amad Diallo on the right.

Marcus Rashford profited from one of the two penalties Garnacho won against Everton last time out. He loves a goal against Liverpool, only scoring more against Leicester City in his career, and will start on the left.
