forward has urged to reconsider his stance on Christian Eriksen and give the midfielder more opportunities. The playmaker recently revealed that he is unhappy at Old Trafford due to his lack of game time this season.

Eriksen has featured in 16 matches this season but started just nine, last being named in the starting XI in January. Ten Hag has rejigged his midfield ranks on numerous occasions throughout this season and the former star appears to have gradually slipped down the pecking order as a result.

The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo has been a major factor in the Denmark international’s frustrations, with the United academy product becoming one of the first names on the team sheet at the Theatre of Dreams. Eriksen could leave United at the end of the season as a result, but the former Brentford playmaker is keen to try and prove his worth in the meantime instead.

Speaking earlier in the international break, the 32-year-old revealed that he was unhappy with how the season has panned out for him, and Hojlund has now spoken out to provide his teammate with a vote of confidence.

Asked about Eriksen’s situation whilst on international duty with Denmark, along with the midfielder, he told TV2: “He holds his head high and he is a class player. There is absolutely no doubt about that. There is no concern at all from me about it.

“Of course, you want to play football and I’m sure he does too. He is a good player, so you would like to see him on the field.” Hojlund shares a dressing room with Eriksen at both club level and internationally so will be aware of the frustrations that his teammate is facing and the recent outburst is unlikely to have been a surprise.

Speaking earlier in the international break, Eriksen bared all on his United situation, saying: "I have previously stated that I am not satisfied with not playing, but it's not something that keeps me up at night. I have had a conversation with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible, but I am available and need to be available for the team, which I am and always will be.

"He said it was the team he had chosen and is doing well, and the rest of the midfield is also performing well, so there is competition for places, which is expected when playing for a top club. There is great competition within the team. The team is performing, and I must respect the role you have alongside.”
