are reportedly set to sell Nuno Tavares at the end of the season following his underwhelming loan spell at . The fullback arrived at the Emirates Stadium with high expectations in 2021 but has failed to meet the mark since.

The Gunners are plotting a significant shake-up at the end of the season, with calling for reinforcements at both ends of the pitch. The north London outfit are keen to sign a top-quality striker to lead the line for the club as well as a young centre-back, and both could be pricey deals.

As a result, a fire sale is firmly on the cards for Arsenal. Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are among the homegrown stars who could be offloaded at the end of the season to raise funds, whilst fringe players are also being placed in the shop window.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tavares is also among those who are set to leave the club over the summer, with director Edu Gaspar already looking to stir up interest in the Portuguese defender.

The Gunners are well-stocked in the fullback department at present and thus there is deemed to be no space for him in the squad upon his return to London. Similarly, Cedric Soares is also set to leave the club this summer and a ‘decision has been made’ that the 32-year-old will see out his contract before becoming a free agent at the end of the season.

Both players have failed to meet expectations at Arsenal since their respective arrivals, though the higher powers at the Emirates may be more disappointed with how Tavares’ time has panned out given that he was very highly regarded when an agreement was reached with FC Porto for his move.

Arteta even talked up his hopes for Tavares after he arrived at the club, saying: “We welcome Nuno to the club. He is a young player with great promise who has developed very well with Benfica in recent seasons and has also shown his quality by being part of Portugal U21s.

“Nuno's arrival will give the squad extra strength and options in defence, particularly with this energy on the left side of the pitch. We look forward to Nuno's arrival soon, his integration into the Arsenal family and playing in front of our fantastic supporters."
