Mark Hughes blasted officials after his side were denied a goal
Clint Hill’s 20th-minute header went into the Bolton net before being clawed out by keeper Adam Bogdan but the officials did not give the goal and QPR lost 2-1 to their relegation rivals.
It made football seem farcical – just as it did when Frank Lampard’s shot crossed the line in England’s 4-1 World Cup defeat to Germany and his ‘goal’ was not given.
Hill’s moment of misfortune – captured clearly by television cameras – prompted the FA to again pledge their support for goal-line technology.
But Hughes said: “The laughable thing is that the FA have come out and said they are all in favour of goal-line technology. They are trying to protect the poor performance of officials that they supply. It [technology] should come in but until it does, the assistants should do the job they are supposed to do.”
