Off the field, the Baggies chief has had to contend with the Peter Odemwingie saga, Goran Popov’s spitting red card and Jonas Olsson’s row with fans.
And on it Albion were dumped out of the FA Cup and were winless in the Premier League this year until last week’s victory at Liverpool.
Clarke, in his first season as a boss, said: “It has been a good experience. While I didn’t want this kind of publicity for the club, it has been a challenge for me.”
