Mourinho believes that left-back Bertrand has a future at Chelsea
Bertrand worked with Brendan Rodgers at Stamford Bridge, after signing from Gillingham in 2005, and the Liverpool boss hoped Chelsea’s decision to extend Ashley Cole’s contract might convince them to part with a player who has three years left on his.
However, new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho feels that Bertrand, who played in the 2012 Champions League final just a month after his first Premier League start, has a future at the club.

It’s a view shared by the player himself, who said: “I have been on loan four or five times but then there comes a time when you have to say, ‘Right, I am going to spend some time back at the club and see what happens’.
“Obviously I want to be Chelsea’s No1 left-back, and when that time comes it will happen.
“All I can do is be ready and keep playing, keep biding my time.”
