Dawson made the move to Spurs from Nottingham Forest in 2005 and has since established himself as mainstay in the centre of defence, with 293 appearances.

The 29-year-old defender was close to moving away from Spurs after falling out of favour with the arrival of Jan Vertonghen, but decided to fight for his place and has been awarded with captaincy and now a new contract.
The centre half, with four England caps to his name, is also the club’s current longest-serving player.
