The versatile midfielder yesterday confirmed in an interview with the BBC that he has indeed rejected a contract offer from the Anfield club.
It is believed that Sterling was offered a five-year deal with wages worth £100,000-per-week, fuelling speculation that he wants to leave Merseyside for a new challenge.
Arsenal are amongst a whole host of clubs who have been linked to the England international, with Sterling admitting that he was flattered by Wenger’s apparent interest.

And speaking ahead of Saturday’s 12.45pm clash against Brendan Rodgers at the Emirates, the Gunners chief hailed Sterling’s quality but refused to be drawn on speculation linking Arsenal with a summer move.
He said: [Sterling] is a top player, everyone in the country knows that and he’s an important player for Liverpool.
“I don’t want to interfere in that [contract talks] 48 hours before the game. It’s not my problem.
“I don’t want to speak about it any more, we are not in a transfer period, we are in front of a big game.”
