Mata watched on as Wayne Rooney scored an impressive goal against Aston Villa on Saturday but admits it was Adams' strike that took his breath away on a weekend of great Premier League goals.
And Mata - formerly of Chelsea - says the strike was even more remarkable because it came against Belgian stopper Thibaut Courtois in the Blues net.
It's so difficult to score from that far, even more to a goalkeeper like Courtois.

However, Mata stopped short of calling it the best long-range strike he's seen, comparing it to Rooney's goal against West Ham last term and David Beckham's famous strike against Wimbledon in 1996.
Writing in his blog, Mata said: "Of course, talking about great moments of the weekend, Charlie Adam's goal was incredible.
"It's so difficult to score from that far, even more to a goalkeeper like Courtois.
"It reminded me of Rooney's goal at West Ham last season, or another one from Beckham a few years ago against Wimbledon."
