Real Madrid news: UEFA make decision on Sergio Ramos Champions League ban

Ramos risked being suspended for at least the first leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final with Bayern Munich.

The centre-back, who was banned for Real’s 3-1 defeat to Juventus on Tuesday, was seen in the tunnel and pitch-side at the Bernabeu.

UEFA regulations forbid suspended players from being beside the pitch.

But European footballs governing body has decided Ramos has no case to answer.

The Spain international’s actions were not mentioned in the referee’s match report on Wednesday - and that has been enough for UEFA to close the case.

There had been precedent for a ban, with former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso encroaching the pitch during the 2014 Champions League final, despite him also being suspended.

Alonso was hit with a one-match ban for that incident.

As for Juventus, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport described their exit from the Champions League as a “mockery”.

Juve had reversed their 3-0 first-leg deficit in the Bernabeu but crashed out when Cristiano Ronaldo converted a controversial penalty in stoppage time.
