Teenage darts star Luke Littler has opened up about the pressures that his new-found fame brings, at times finding it "too much" and longing to retreat to the comforts of home.

At just 16 years of age, he made a sensational debut just months ago at the World Darts Championship, reaching the finals where he was beaten by Luke Humphries. He quickly became a household name, capturing the attention of record-breaking audiences who tuned in to watch him compete at Ally Pally.

Littler, now 17, has continued his meteoric rise, winning darts titles and even recently making his first televised nine-darter. But as his fame grows, so too does the spotlight on his private life, which he confesses can often be overwhelming.

Featuring on the JaackMaate's Happy Hour podcast, Littler revealed: "If I'm out, I don't mind doing a few (photos) but when it gets too much, I just want to go home then. I went to a (rugby league) testimonial game for one of the boys who have been at the club for 10 years. That was just mayhem. That wasn't even a full stadium.

"But I've to get out there and live my life. I don't mind taking a few (pictures) but it does get over the top. I can't even go out without someone noticing me. As soon as I step on my doorstep."

At the oche, Littler has been tipped to dominate for years to come, and he has opened up on his dreams within the sport - eyeing Phil Taylor's incredible world titles record.

"I would love to beat Phil Taylor's record of 16. So, I'd say 18. Make sure..." It comes after quotes from as recently as last month, doubting anyone could surpass Phil's feat, stating: "I don't think anyone's beating that record."
