and Saracens rugby star Billy Vunipola was  in the early hours of Sunday morning after reportedly threatening customers and employees at a bar. Images from Epic in Palma show Vunipola laughing as police required a second taser to sedate him before his arrest.

The 31-year-old jetted off on holiday after being a replacement in Friday's 15-12 win against Bath, given Saracens' absence from this weekend's European semi-finals.

But he was arrested two days later after police were called to a bar named Epic on Sunday morning by reports of Vunipola allegedly causing chaos.

According to local reports, Vunipola took off his shirt and started threatening customers and employees with bottles and chairs.

When police arrived on the scene at around 4.30am on Sunday, they had to use a second taser volt to take control of the 20-stone, 6ft 2in heavyweight.

He was then taken to Son Espases Hospital, near the scene of the incident, where he was sedated and bound to his bed.

Vunipola - wearing the beige shorts and navy shirt that he had removed at the bar - was later pictured being escorted from a police van into a local station by four officers.

The decorated rugby star, born in Sydney to Tongan parents, has been released on bail pending an investigation. Police and court officials are expected to make an official comment on Monday.

It hasn't been confirmed whether Vunipola was intoxicated at Palma's Epic bar, which is open to customers until 5am every day.

The 75-cap England ace has previously been open about his relationship with alcohol, having not drunk until the age of 25 when he suffered his first serious injury after breaking up with his now-wife.

In November 2018, he revealed that he had stopped drinking after being "lectured" by his mum, dad and brother, Saracens and England prop, Mako.

However, he caused controversy during the 2019 Six Nations by embarking on a night out with former England centre Ben Te'o, for which he apologised to his teammates.

Vunipola wasn't selected in Steve Borthwick's squad for this year's Six Nations and most recently represented England in the Rugby World Cup semi-final defeat by South Africa last year.

His hopes of a recall will be dashed if he completes his expected switch from Saracens to Montpellier next season. English players based overseas are ineligible for the national team.

But he has enjoyed a decorated international career, winning three Six Nations Championships and one Autumn Nations Cup.
