Loose Woman Denise Welch has taken to social media to express her 'pride' after her son, Matty Healy, was 'banned' from Malaysia over LGBTQ+ rant.

Denise Welch has come out in support of her son Matty Healy after his band was ‘banned’ from Malaysia.
On Friday (21 July), Matty, 34, advocated for the LGBTQ+ community while performing on stage with his band, The 1975.
While singing at Kuala Lumpur’s Good Vibes Festival, the musician made an impassioned speech about discrimination which LGBTQ+ people face in Malaysia before defiantly kissing his bassist, Ross MacDonald.
Following the drama, Denise, 65, has taken to social media to support her son’s actions.
Retweeting a video which shows Matty kissing Ross, 34, with her 556,800 followers she wrote: “He’s my son,” followed by a rainbow emoji.
Following the tweet, fans have rushed to support the Loose Woman and also give their own opinion on the drama.
One Twitter user wrote: “The woman the myth the legend herself has spoken.”
A second said: “Denise, you have instilled wonderful values in your Son. Just like you, he's always supportive and unafraid to speak up for those who can't. Your influence has truly made a positive impact on him.”
Another agreed and replied: “Oh I will forever love Denise, our band, and our community omg.”

Elsewhere, a Twitter user retweeted Denise’s sentiment and said: “You raised him good Queen, you raised him good.”
The tweet from the Waterloo Road star comes after Matty stated that The 1975 had “made a mistake” booking to play the show in Kuala Lumpur.
In fan-captured footage of the rant, the 34-year-old could be seen addressing the crowd and stating that he does not, “see the f****** point” in inviting his band to play.
“When we were booking shows, I wasn’t looking into it. I don’t see the f****** point, right, I do not see the point of inviting The 1975 to a country and then telling us who we can have sex with.
“I am sorry if that offends you and you’re religious and it’s part of your f****** government but your government are a bunch of f****** r***** and I don’t care anymore.”
He then went on to say that he was going to “push back” before saying that he was not “in the f****** mood.”
After finishing their seventh song, the performance was cut short.
Matty went over to the microphone and told the crowd: “All right, we gotta go. We just got banned from Kuala Lumpur, goodbye.”
Since his outburst, festival organisers have since cancelled the remainder of Good Vibes Festival and released a statement.
It read: “We deeply regret to announce that the remaining schedule of Good Vibes Festival 2023, planned for today and tomorrow has been cancelled following the controversial conduct and remarks by UK artist Matt Healy from the band The 1975.”
