Rylan Clark said he "learned the hard way" with being mistreated in the industry after rising to fame as a reality star.

Rylan Clark has claimed the showbiz industry is "full of a***holes" as he slammed mistreatment he had experienced and witnessed in his 12 years in the spotlight so far. The 35-year-old rose to fame on the X Factor back in 2012 and has since gone on to have a successful presenting career.

While making a name for himself, Rylan said many didn't bother giving him the time of day as they believed he wouldn't be around for long. He described the industry as being "full of entitled people that believe that they are something special, and that they can talk to people like sh*t, and that they can get away with it. And subsequently do get away with it".

Rylan added: "Going into that industry at 23 when I was on X Factor I learned that the hard way by seeing how people would treat me, a reality contestant. ‘He’s not going to be about in two weeks, I don’t need to make the effort to him’."

After coming fifth on the X Factor, the reality star turned host later went on to win Celebrity Big Brother. Fast forward the years and he's one of television's most in demand presenters.

Just some of Rylan's hosting credits include Big Brother's Bit On The Side, Supermarket Sweep, This Morning, Strictly: It Takes Two, and a self-titled show on BBC Radio 2.

When starting out in his presenting career, Rylan recalled how Boris Johnson’s team once refused to do an interview with him, after he replaced the original interviewer last minute.

Issuing advice to others, he shared, according to The Mirror: "Don’t let anyone else sit there and say to you, you shouldn’t be sat around this meeting table because you didn’t go to Eton, because you went to a state school in Dagenham.

“Don’t let Boris Johnson’s team say to you, you’re not qualified to interview the future Prime Minister, when eight years down the line, I’m the one still doing my job and you’re not!”

It's not the first time Rylan has hit out at unnamed people who, he claims, haven't been so kind in the industry.

Rylan previously shared that he had witnessed runners and researchers being treated like "dirt" and was startled to see that the culprits still managed to get jobs.

The presenter later said being "nice and polite" to people throughout his career had contributed to this success.

He added on This Morning: "There are people in this industry who aren't like that. They think they're something special. And the walls are starting to fall."

Rylan said there had been a particular time where he had to tell off a well-known presenter over the way they spoke to a runner about a wrong drink.

He recalled: "I told them to f*** off and then I went and had a ciggy with the runner."

Away from presenting, the host experienced his real dream job as a member of Virgin Atlantic's cabin crew last month.

Customers on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Miami were welcomed by the TV star, who was dressed head to toe in the airline’s iconic uniform after undergoing training.

Ombi Farr, flight service manager at Virgin Atlantic, said: “It was a pleasure having Rylan onboard to test out his service skills, and see if he can embody our unique red spirit.

“We want all of our customers to feel special when they fly with us, no matter which cabin they’re in – and Rylan really did go the extra mile to do that. He brought the energy, warmth, and fun that our customers know and love."
