Great British Bake Off's youngest contestant announces birth of first baby and unique name
The Great British Bake Off star Martha Collison has taken to social media to reveal she's given birth to her first baby.
Martha Collison, who appeared on the iconic cooking show on the BBC back in 2014, has announced she’s given birth to a baby boy. The Great British Bake Off star took to Instagram to share a short clip of the newborn with fans.
Revealing the little one's unusual name, she captioned the sweet montage: “My sunshine is here [sic]. Our little Kenny arrived last Saturday afternoon, 9 days overbaked and weighing 8lb 4oz.
“Kenaniah Jude, you've changed our whole world and we are so grateful you are ours.” In the clip, Martha’s followers saw the former contestant lovingly looking down at her son as he cuddled into her.
In another snippet, her husband Michael Haywood could be seen carrying their newborn out of the hospital. Martha gave some glimpses of their first week together as a family of three, including baby Kenny kicking his feet and holding onto his mum’s finger.
It wasn’t long before some of Martha’s followers commented on the adorable compilation of clips. Former Bake Off winner Frances Quinn said: “Welcome to the world little Kenaniah [sic]. SO happy for you Martha and all the love you and Michael are going to give and receive via Kenny.”
Another social media user said: “Aw I was just thinking yesterday I hadn’t seen you posting. Welcome Kenaniah [sic]. Congratulations Mum and Dad xx”
@Rebeccawilsonfood wrote: “How wonderful, congratulations on your gorgeous new arrival.”
Another Bake Off winner, Rahul Mandal, added: “Awww congratulations Martha, this is a brilliant news.”
@Amanda_foreerbaking commented: “Congratulations @marthacollison you are now blessed to experience the overwhelming love only a new baby can bring and what a beautiful baby he is.”

Martha first announced that she was expecting at the start of the year as she shared a series of images documenting her first trimester.
She confessed that the first 12 weeks of pregnancy were filled with excitement, nervousness, nausea and exhaustion.
Martha first shot to fame when she appeared on Great British Bake Off at the age of 17, making her the youngest contestant to take part in the competition.
She managed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry with her talents at such a young age, eventually proving herself enough to grab a place in the quarter-final.
However, she lost out on earning a spot in the finale, as her series saw retired practice manager Nancy Birtwhistle crowned the winner.
Since competing in the TV show, Martha has gone on to continue her culinary career as she’s written two cookbooks.
The now 27-year-old is also a columnist for Waitrose Magazine and is a show chef at Virgin Radio UK.
