Rebel Wilson revealed that her mum had a few unusual ideas in mind if her venture into Hollywood wasn’t a success.

The Pitch Perfect star appeared on The One Show to discuss her new memoir Rebel Rising with hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas.

During the interview, the 44-year-old shocked viewers and shared her mother Sue Bownds originally wanted her to work with animals.

The actress explained: “At first she wanted me to be a professional dog handler, that was her dream for me because I come from a dog showing family.

“So that was my mum's first dream, then the second dream was for me to be a lawyer, so I really disappointed her when I told her I saw a vision I was going to become an actress.”

Rebel continued: “We are quite a conservative family so she didn't like seeing me on TV swearing and wearing crazy outfits with my stomach hanging out.

“To me, I was doing it for comic purposes but she was like, ‘No that is my daughter and I don’t want you to behave in that way.’”

Rebel remarked: “She’s since changed her mind, once I started getting into Hollywood films and she comes over for the premiere and meets Brad Pitt, then she changes her mind.”

Despite this, the Australian native admitted her success in the film and TV industry is down to her supportive mother.

As she shared: “I have to give it up to my mum as she enrolled me in all these local drama classes when I was 14, because she could tell I was painfully shy.

“I wanted to express myself, I just didn't know how. So she enrolls me, but I wasn't going to go, but she ripped me off the car door and pushed me through the door.”

This comes just a week after Rebel revealed her surprising connection to Zara Tindall and her ex-rugby star husband Mike Tindall.

In her explosive book, the Bridesmaid star recalled spending New Year's Eve 2020 with the Royals in Sydney.

Rebel also claimed she was invited to a drug-fuelled orgy by an unnamed member of the Royal Family who was “15th or 20th in line to the throne.”
