Lewis Hamilton 'smashed up' hotel room in furious rage after costly crash in Azerbaijan
LEWIS HAMILTON reportedly trashed his hotel room in an angry rage after he crashed on the circuit last month.
According to racing legend Niki Lauda, the Formula One ace flew off the handle while in Azerbaijan after his racing blunder caused him to boil over.
It's claimed the 31-year-old star was also annoyed with his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who was ahead of him in the driving stakes at the time.
"Lewis is always wild, the more so in front of Rosberg," said Lauda on the Austrian TV channel ServusTV. "I was there when he smashed up his hotel room in Baku because he drove into the wall."
He added: "He himself paid for the damages."
Niki, the non-executive director of his Mercedes racing team, also slammed recent newspaper quotes that saw Hamilton claim he was patching up his tumultuous relationship with his German teammate.
"Lewis lied about it, simple as that," he said.

Express.co.uk have contacted Lewis' representative for comment.
Niki, who is an Austrian triple champion, has long been a supporter of Hamilton and was one of the key figures who persuaded the British driver to quit McLaren and join Mercedes.
Despite the 67-year-old's shocking revelation, Lewis has given the impression that he is keeping his cool during the Grand Prix, which will take place in the racing driver's native England this weekend.
"Never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do. Rise Up. #TeamLH," he wrote on Instagram yesterday, alongside a tranquil picture of himself against an ocean backdrop at sunset.
