The 66-year-old appeared frail as he arrived at JFK and tried to keep a low-profile in a long, camel coat and black trilby. 

He was spotted being pushed through the busy terminal as he carried his pet pooch on his lap and is said to have remained silent. 

Mark was accompanied by two female assistants and was flocked by fans desperate for an autograph as he was helped into a waiting car. 

Many rushed to social media to ask if the star was okay following the sighting, with one fan sharing a shot of Mark in the wheelchair.

The Luke Skywalker star was quick to reassure his 2.07 million Twitter followers that he was well, tweeting: “HA! Arriving 5AM I tried the old 'wheelchair trick' JUST 2 avoid autograph $alesmen/Dealer$ who constantly badger me (& my family) 2 increase value of their items.

“All the better 2 gouge TRUE FANS later on Ebay #TheyCanGoForceThemselves #NoMoreAirportSignings. (sic)”

Mark also shared a snap of himself posing with his dog Millie as they celebrated her 6th birthday.

Mark reassured his fans on Twitter that he was feeling well

He appeared in good spirits and in full health in one of the shots posted on Twitter as he posed on the floor with his pooch. 

The father-of-three captioned the images: “We arrived in NYC just in time for the 6th birthday of none other than Millie Grace Hamill! Beloved pet, world traveler & trusted career advisor. LOVE that PUP!! #AsSeenInVanityFair #DevineDoggieDiva.”(sic)

Mark will reprise role as Luke in upcoming Star Wars film The Last Jedi, which is set to hit cinemas on December 15.
