Scotland deserves better than the blithering idiot Humza Yousaf

Unlike his predecessor, Yousaf has always been awful, says Carole Malone

If I didn’t love Scotland so much, I’d have been hanging out the flags this week after the Scottish government’s near-collapse. Not the nationalist’s flag obviously but the Union Jack, because never has the union looked more secure than it does now thanks to the country’s idiot First Minister, Humza Yousaf.

From the get go, it’s been clear Yousaf is a blithering idiot who is to leadership what Vlad Putin is to peacekeeping. And although I never liked Nicola Sturgeon because of her obsessive mission to smash the UK’s sacred union, at least she was an impressive politician with a brain as sharp as a tack. Even when she was spouting vengeful tosh against Westminster – and particularly Boris – she was magnificently awful, with a genius knack of being able to hide her government’s breathtaking failures – the highest drug deaths in Europe, floundering education and health services, loony gender ID policies, missing SNP funds and the Greens’ determination to nobble the country’s oil and gas industry.

Yousaf has always been just awful. This week he’s been exposed and utterly humiliated after the virtual collapse of his government, having been forced to jettison the SNP’s coalition with the Greens because – if he hadn’t – they’d have dumped the SNP for scrapping its keynote climate change target.

The Greens have been hysterical over that – when are they not? – claiming Scotland, nay the world, was doomed because the SNP had rowed back on its promise to reduce emissions by 75 per cent by 2030. This extremist party even rejected the Cass Report on transgender issues and it’s their zealotry in this particular area that has riled and turned off many Scottish voters. But dense as he is, Yousaf had the wit to realise that not only had the Scottish people woken up to the Greens’ trans lunacy, but many were also no longer keen to break away from the union, not even Sturgeon’s cult following – many of whom have finally seen the light, meaning the once-invincible SNP is haemorrhaging support.

The dream of independence is finally being seen for what it is – an unworkable fantasy.

If there is any joy in all this, it’s that the SNP and the Greens – who for years have spent every waking moment blaming Westminster for all their ills – can’t do that now. It’s THEIR stupidity, THEIR incompetence, THEIR total inability to govern that has brought them to this – a minority government, with a First Minister who’s got less sense than our next door neighbour’s cat. Like I say, if I didn’t love Scotland (I’m half Scottish), I’d be gloating at this catastrophe.

This good-for-nothing government has no one to blame but itself for its epic failures. As one prominent Scots writer said: “This was a political farce made in Scotland.”

And while Sturgeon might have been leading Scotland down a rabbit hole, she still managed to hoodwink a majority into believing what she was doing was right for the country. Yousaf couldn’t hoodwink anyone into believing that night follows day.

Which is why he has to go. Put simply – he’s thick and he’s incredibly dangerous for this once-great country.

Scotland deserves better!
