A Premium Bonds customer who was gifted his Bonds as a child wanted to check if he had won any prizes.

The man contacted provider NS&I over X to ask: "I have some Premium Bonds that my parents bought for me when I was a child (I am now 50).

"It says on the document that I should have transferred them for me to control when I was 16, I didn’t do this. I would like to see if I have won any prizes over the years."

The responded to first ask if he knew any account details for the Bonds, such as the holder's number or the account number.

The customer said: "I have the Bonds themselves along with yellow pieces of card which have my name, the Premium Bonds holder’s number and my parents' name/address.

"There doesn’t seem to be details of their account number. I don’t know if they had an account?"

The provider then said: "The account will already been in your name as we do this automatically when you turn 16.

"What you will need to do is update the Bonds, to do this you can print and post this form."

To fill in the form, a person needs to provide their personal details, details of their accounts and investments held with NS&I, and any information about previous names and addresses, if applicable.

A saver can check if they have any Premium Bonds prizes to collect using the prize checker tool on the NS&I website.

People can also check using the prize checker app or with an Alexa-enabled device.

The monthly prize draw includes two jackpot prizes for £1million as well as other large prizes for £100,000 and £50,000.

The Bonds are entered into the monthly draw rather than getting an interest rate, with each £1 Bond having an equal chance of winning a prize.
