Waitrose urgently recalls pie after wrong product packed in box sparking health concerns
WAITROSE is recalling its beef and ale pie because it poses a health risk to those with a nut allergy or a dairy allergy. The recall is taking place in England, Wales and Scotland.

The Waitrose beef and ale pie is being recalled by the British supermarket after nuts contaminated the item. The supermarket advised the wrong item had been packed in the box.
Those who have bought the item are advised to return it to their local Waitrose for a full refund.

The FSA stated on its website: "Waitrose & Partners are recalling Waitrose & Partners Slow Cooked Beef and Ale Pie because it contains hazelnuts and milk which are not mentioned on the label.
"This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts (hazelnuts) and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."

Nut allergy symptoms include pain and cramps in the abdomen.
It also includes itching, especially of the mouth and throat.
In serious cases the foods can send the body in anaphylaxis, which can be deadly.
A number of other recalls have been made recently across UK supermarkets.

Recently Bisto gravy powder was recalled.
The gravy granules have been recalled as they contain milk not mentioned on the label.
The Food Standards Agency website said: "This product contains milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."
The affected product has the lot number 0092 A5 and time codes between 22:41 and 22:47.
Another pie subject to a recall was Fry's Mushroom Country Style pie.
The item was recalled as a packaging error made it unsuitable for those who have an intolerance to milk or who avoid eating meat.
The pie contains milk, chicken and ham that was not listed on the label.
The affected packs are 266 grams with the use by date of June 12, 2020.
