APPLE is already hard at work on the next version of its iPhone and iPad software, iOS 10.2, which includes more than 72 new emoji - including the shrug, Harambe, redesigned peach, and more. Here is a sneak peek at what you can expect.

Apple has pushed-out the first beta for its next iOS update, which includes new emoji characters, food, drink, and more.

iPhone owners do not get new emoji all that often – and as a result, new additions are generally one of the most popular additions.

Fortunately iOS 10.2 is packed with new emoji characters.

Headline new emoji include the new clown face, bacon, person taking a selfie, whiskey glass, shrug, and a sideways laughing face.

Elsewhere, the alien and the peach have undergone a redesign.

Technology blog 9To5Mac has trawled through the latest iOS beta and picked out some of the new characters included in the Apple update.

New additions to the iPhone software include a Selfie character, whiskey glass, cowboy hat face, sneezing face, shaking hands, and thumbs down.

iOS 10 included more than 100 new emoji – including the controversial new water gun character. 

iPhone owners also got a number of new emoji (tacos, unicorn, and middle finger) as part of the update to iOS 9.1.
