and have been brutally mocked over their documentary series after being compared to Hollywood actors desperately trying to win an Oscar. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have sparked a furious backlash with their bombshell six-part series that premiered earlier this month. The couple make several claims against the , which mainly focus around Meghan's alleged bad treatment by the British media and their departure from royal duties to move to the US in early 2020.

Before meeting Harry in July 2016, Meghan rose to stardom as a top Hollywood actress with a starring role in the hit drama series, Suits.

But Nile Gardiner, a Washington-based foreign policy expert and Royal Family enthusiast, has accused the Duchess of Sussex of putting her acting skills to the best possible use.

He told Express.co.uk: "This documentary series has very much been the Meghan Markle show. She is literally acting throughout all of the interviews she is shown doing.

"Prince Harry is the Best Supporting Actor to Meghan's starring role. What we have really seen is Hollywood fiction, with Meghan running for Best Actress.

Kate 'declined' invitation to Sandringham Christmas after giving William major ultimatum

Prince William and his wife Kate, Princess of Wales, are expected to be among the senior members of the Royal Family joining King Charles III at Sandringham this Christmas. However, according to a royal biographer, the Princess of Wales had previously been invited to a royal festive event but chose to decline.

"At points in the documentary series, especially in the early part, Harry looks thoroughly bored and doesn't look overly comfortable with a lot of what Meghan is saying.

"Meghan is in complete control. The whole thing is a truly bizarre episode in filmmaking."

Mr Gardiner also compared the allegations made from Meghan and Harry towards the Royal Family to "the media's version of a cruise missile".

"They have become so divorced from reality and isolated from the real world and are launching the media's version of a cruise missile against the Royal Family."

He believes relations with not only Buckingham Palace, but also with the British public, are now all but destroyed.

Mr Gardiner concluded: "This is a bridge too far for Meghan and Harry with the Royal Family - there's no turning back now from their latest vicious attacks.

"They have spectacularly burnt whatever bridges remain with Buckingham Palace. But significantly, they have completely destroyed any remaining goodwill there may have been among the British people.

During the documentary series, Harry alleged that Kensington Palace "lied to protect" Prince William when it issued a joint statement in both their names the same day without his permission, denying a story his brother had bullied him out of the Royal Family.

In one clip, Harry makes reference to "institutional gaslighting" before it cuts to Meghan telling the camera: "I wasn't being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves."

Harry also claimed his brother left him terrified when he screamed and shouted at him, while the Duke also accused his father King Charles III of saying untrue things when the Queen gathered them together at Sandringham in January 2020 to solve the 'Megxit' crisis.

The Duke of Sussex also accused his father King Charles of "saying things that just simply weren't true" while claiming his plan to partially exit royal duties was rejected.

Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace said they will not be commenting on the allegations and claims made by Harry and Meghan in the latest episodes of their Netflix docu-series.

Meghan and Harry's documentary series has been hit by an accuracy row with accusations viewers were misled with footage and photographs that were not connected to the Sussexes.

One black and white picture in a trailer for the documentary series appears to show them being photographed by the press, as it shows photographers holding long lenses pointing at what appears to be the couple.

In fact, the photograph was taken from the premiere of the final Harry Potter film in London in 2011, with the press taking pictures of celebrities walking down a red carpet.

Another clip from the same trailer appears to show the press attempting to chase Harry and Meghan on foot. However, this turned out to be footage of Katie Price outside court last year after she had been sentenced for drink-driving.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, warned: "The inaccurate photographs undermine the validity of what Harry and Meghan are trying to say. It makes them the object of ridicule. If you are going to criticise the monarchy you have to make sure everything you say or do is absolutely correct."
