Mayor of Kingstown revolves around the powerful McLusky family who own the town's jail which is the only thriving business in the area. As Mike McLusky (played by Jeremy Renner) acts as a go-between those behind the bars and the outside world, he has a lot of control. Express.co.uk has everything there is to know about watching Mayor of Kingstown season two.

When is Mayor of Kingstown season 2 coming out?

Mayor of Kingstown first made its big debut on Paramount+ in November 2021 with episodes released weekly on the streamer.

Due to fans' reaction to the crime drama, the show was renewed just a few months later in February 2022.

There had been no previous indication of when subscribers could expect to see the next lot of episodes until now.

Paramount+ has finally revealed exactly when the drama will be back for more.

Mayor of Kingstown season two is going to premiere on Sunday, January 15, 2023, in the USA and Canada.

Paramount+ subscribers in Australia and the UK, on the other hand, can start watching the new series a day later on Monday, January 16.

So there are just a couple more months left to wait before it returns to the small screen.

As of yet, there has been no indication of how the episode schedule will play out.

Season one of Mayor of Kingstown kicked off with the first two episodes dropped on the day of release.

From then on, one new episode came out every week until the grand finale aired on Sunday, January 9.

Paramount+ hasn't stated any concrete plans for the upcoming season but there is a good chance that it will do something similar.

If series two also consists of 10 episodes with this release date pattern, then the second finale episode could be out on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

At the end of the first series, there was a prison riot that caused panic among the McLuskys.

Little has been said about the plot of season two but the start of it is bound to explore the aftermath of the series finale.

A teaser has been dropped as part of the release date announcement which states: "The riots were just the beginning."

So could the powerful family be in more danger than they originally thought following the prison outburst?

Once again, Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner will be leading the cast as Mike McLusky.

He will be joined by actress Dianne Wiest who plays the McLusky matriarch, Miriam.

Other stars include Emma Laird, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa and Nishi Munshi.

Mayor of Kingstown season 2 will premiere on January 15, 2023, on Paramount+.
