Doctor Who series 10: New companion to be unveiled during FA Cup semi-final
THE new Doctor Who companion is set to be announced this Saturday during the FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Manchester United.

Viewers will find out on during the match, which is set to kick off at 5.15pm on BBC One.
Fans have been kept in the dark about who the new assistant to Peter Capaldi’s Doctor was going to be since Jenna Coleman departed as Clara Oswald last year.
Back in March, Peter, 56, confirmed that the Time Lord’s latest companion had been cast, he told Brazilian website Omlette: "We will have a new companion, and I'm excited because obviously I know who this person is.”
The Thick of It star continued: "Clara had prior knowledge of the Doctor. It was conceived as a human connection to your timeline, and so had access to the cosmic nature of the Doctor.

"She understood a little about how he was. And as she was already with Matt [Smith], she knew the Daleks and the TARDIS.
"Now we have someone who knows very little about the Doctor."
There were reports earlier this year that former EastEnders actress Rakhee Thakrar was going to be joining the TARDIS.

If she did join the TARDIS, Rakhee would become the second non-white main companion on Doctor Who.
Freema Agyeman played Martha Jones in the long-running sci-fi series alongside David Tennant’s Time Lord from 2005 to 2010.
Rakhee has won praise for her portrayal of Shabnam and particularly her recent stillbirth storyline.

Another name believed to be in the running is Fresh Meat star Faye Marsay is said to be at the top of the list, having already starred as Shona in the 2014 Christmas special.
Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, who played Ashildr last year, was also thought to be a possible candidate but she ruled herself out due to commitments to other projects.
Doctor Who series 10 is set to air on BBC One in 2017.
