Sky Sports F1 expert corrected live on air at Miami GP after Jenson Button mix-up
There was an amusing exchange on Sky Sports after qualifying for the sprint race in Miami.
Sky Sports F1 presenter Simon Lazenby wasn’t about to let a fellow pundit get away with a mistake live on air after Jenson Button was wrongly credited at the Miami Grand Prix. Predictably, it was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to take pole position for the Saturday sprint race in America, but the main talking point afterwards centred on the performance of Daniel Ricciardo.

The VCARB driver, without a single point to his name his season, shocked everyone with a fourth-placed finish. His display comes amid mounting speculation over his future with Red Bull, with reserve driver Liam Lawson waiting in the wings to replace him if his fortunes don't change for the better.
And pundits were quick to praise him afterwards, with Lazenby lauding the return to form of the 34-year-old. Anthony Davidson echoed similar sentiments with his analysis, but made one minor error.
“It was Verstappen who drove the best out of the cars with potential to get on pole position, but I agree with Jenson, Daniel Ricciardo what a performance” said the ex-F1 driver. “When a lot was about the driver today, a performance from nowhere in that car so well done to him."

Lazenby stopped him in his tracks there though, jumping in with: "That was actually me Ant. I mean, I don’t mean to argue but I think it was actually me that said that, wasn’t it?”
Button himself saw the funny side of the exchange, quipping “I mean, we look alike don’t we?” Lazenby then poked further fun at Davidson, saying "I was going to go back to him (Davidson) there but he’s clearly gone off in a huff.”
Ricciardo finished in front of Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, as well as both McLaren cars. And afterwards, even the ‘Honey Badger’ himself admitted to being taken aback at his unexpected result.

“I know it's in me but did I expect to do a second-row start? Probably not that good,” he admitted to reporters. “I felt really good in SQ2 and I knew that lap would be good enough for SQ3. I think at that point I was P5 and in my head I was thinking 'P5 would be really nice for SQ3' and then we got P4.
“I'm very proud of what I did today but also the team has been bringing upgrades the last few races. I had the chassis change last race in China and we had a new floor here, so it definitely looks like it's turning around.”
