Ferdinand and Lineker celebrate Messi’s goal against Liverpool
Lionel Messi took his Champions League tally to double figures this season after his brace against Manchester United in the Champions League’s quarter-finals.
But the Barcelona star showed no signs of slowing as he went on to bag another double against Liverpool in the semi-final first leg.
In the other Champions League tie, Tottenham were beaten at home by Ajax in the first leg of their semi-final yesterday.
The Dutch outfit have been the surprise package in Europe this season, with Erik ten Hag's exciting young side having knocked out Real Madrid and Juventus en route to the last four.
Dusan Tadic has scored six times in the Champions League for Ajax and is the only realistic contender that could catch Messi at this stage.
