When he retired back in 2013 and put his faith in David Moyes, one of the players he suggested to sign was the 26-year-old.
At the time Maguire was plying his trade at Sheffield United but it was clear he had potential to be successful.
The defender played in the FA Youth Cup final of 2011.
Maguire lined up against the likes of Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba as Sheffield United lost.

But he did receive a phone call from Ferguson who made it clear to Maguire that if he worked hard his potential was huge.
Moyes was told by the Scotsman a couple of years later that the centre-back could provide competition for Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, according to the Mirror.
And back then he would have cost United just £4m.
It looks like Ed Woodward and co. would now have to shell out 20 times that amount for Leicester to part with one of their prized assets.
