Arsenal news: Nicolas Pepe returns from international duty - is he injured? (Image: GETTY Images)
The Ivorian started pre-season late this summer, after lengthy talks about his future.
He didn’t feature in any of the Gunners’ pre-season fixtures, despite being available, as there were concerns over his fitness.
After arriving at the Emirates, Pepe became the latest Ivory Coast international to sign for Arsenal.
He followed in the footsteps of Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue and Gervinho, and Pepe hopes to follow their examples.

“We talk a lot about Gervinho, for example, who played for Lille and ended up at Arsenal so I am on the same path,” said Pepe, after signing for Arsenal.
“They are definitely examples to us young Ivorians and I hope we will continue to follow these examples.”
Pepe spoke at length with former centre-back Toure before signing, and was told what to expect in north London.
“He spoke to me a lot about the very high level," he added. "How he got to Arsenal and how you always have to work hard and really graft on a daily basis to try and get right to the very top.”
