Man United cannot have people like Daniel James, I saw him against West Ham, he was leading the line
Ian Wright on Man Utd star Daniel James
Wright has criticised Manchester United’s decision to sell Romelu Lukaku in the summer without bringing in a replacement to stop situations such as that happening.
“Honestly you look at it and you think to yourself whatever they think about Lukaku, the fans and everybody, to sell a goalscorer and not replace and then you see the injuries that they’ve got now,” Wright told Premier League Productions.
“As much as you can, and people probably will, blame Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], you’ve got to look upstairs and see what they’re doing as well.
“Who’s making those decisions? Is it football people or is it businessmen? That can’t happen.

“Man United cannot have people like Daniel James, I saw him against West Ham, he was leading the line.
“At one stage Jesse Lingard came on, he was leading the line. What’s going on? That’s Man United, that should not be happening.”
European football expert Julien Laurens agrees with Wright the sale of Lukaku without replacing him was irresponsible from United.
“The lack of planning from upstairs is baffling, really,” Laurens said.

Man United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises Daniel James
“I don’t want to blame Ed Woodward all the time because I think he gets blamed a lot.
“But he has huge responsibility in the fact that nothing has been planned, nothing has been structured, there is no idea, there is no philosophy there.
“As you say letting [Alexis] Sanchez and Lukaku go without replacing them, letting [Marouane] Fellaini and Ander Herrera go as well from midfield, without replacing them either. It’s crazy.”
