Chelsea boss Frank Lampard reserved special praise for Fikayo Tomori after his dominant performance in the win over Lille on Wednesday.
The Englishman played a key role in handing Lampard his first Champions League win as a manager, after the disappointing 1-0 loss to Valencia last time out.
Tomori, 21, was picked out by his former Derby boss after the game in which Tammy Abraham and Willian both found the net.
Lampard told BT Sport: "It feels really good, This was a really hard place to come, added to the pressure of not beating Valencia. And it was the first time for a few travelling in Europe.
"Fikayo Tomori was outstanding again. He has to keep on with that.
"Now Ajax have set their stall out in the group. This gives us confidence and points. Now the hard work begins."
Abraham scored his first Champions League goal in his second attempt in northern France, which came in the 22nd minute on his 22nd birthday.
The striker has now scored eight goals already in his first season as the main forward at Chelsea, and he was delighted to come away with three points.
He said: “We knew we needed to win. I knew I would get a chance and I took it well.

“Never an easy place to play and Willian scores a worldie - no surprise there.
"The manager always wants to mix things up, we can play any system. This is massive."
Willian also gave his take after he helped the Blues grind out the victory, and urged his team-mates to keep their standards up.
He said: ”We needed to win, we have been working hard and the lads did an amazing job. Now we have to carry on."
